The Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has proceeded on a 5-Day official visit to Lisbon, Portugal, to represent President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, at the Lisbon Global Forum scheduled to begin on November 7, 2016.

The forum is Europe’s biggest and most important global meeting place which provides a platform for a select group of government representatives and business innovators to explore the issues of technological advance, innovation, entrepreneurship and their role in shaping a better world.

Thereafter, the Honourable Minister will proceed to Yaoundé, Cameroon to attend the “World Bioethics Day and 20th anniversary of the OAU Resolution on Bioethics and Development of Africa” scheduled to hold from November 14 – 15, 2016.

The forum is expected to provide a platform that will present to the African Continent and the international community, the bioethics monitoring system of the African Continent and the process of the expression of the authentic African opinion on life issues, health, security and development.

Dr. Onu will attend the occasion in his dual capacity as both Nigeria’s Minister of Science and Technology and the First Vice Chairman of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science and Technology.

The Minister is also expected to later arrive Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 17, 2016, to hold discussions with his Argentine counterpart, on issues bordering on technology acquisition and forging closer ties pursuant to enhancing science, technology and innovation for the mutual benefit of both Nigeria and Argentina.

He is expected back in the country on November 25, 2016.
