DR. ONU CONDOLES WITH THE GOVERNMENT, PEOPLE OF KANO AND THE FAMILY OF LATE ALHAJI YUSUF MAITAMA SULE

The Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, on Sunday, July 9, 2017, paid a visit to Kano to condole with the Government, people of Kano State and the family of late elder statesman, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano.

While at the Emir’s Palace, Dr. Onu said, “There are so many things about Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule’s life that many people should learn from, such as the way he handled the health challenges he had. Every problem in the country, if you look at his solution, you will find out that they are so well thought out and they are normally the most appropriate”.

Responding, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II said that he was happy to receive the Honourable Minister in the Palace and that he shared the sentiment he expressed on the demise of the Danmasanin Kano. He urged the Minister to use the experience he gathered through his relationship with the late elder statesman and impact it on the nation, especially the youths towards the lasting benefit of the nation.

In his words:
Your Excellency, I am happy to receive you this afternoon in the palace and indeed share in your deep feeling of loss on the demise of Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule. Indeed, it is a great loss not only to Kano, Nigeria, but to the Africa continent in general. I hope with all the experiences you have with the late Danmasanin Kano, you will use that experience to contribute and move the nation forward.

It is a great loss most especially at this period when we are facing a lot of challenges in the country. I expect you to use the experience you have, the gains you’ve gained from him and use it in uniting this country.

Also, the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said,
“We appreciate your coming ….Your coming is a sign of national integration … and this shows us that Maitama Sule of Kano, was a man of all nations, was a man of all tribes …”

Concluding, Dr. Onu said that he has known Maitama Sule for the past quarter of a century, and that he is a rare gift that that God gave to the people of Kano, Nigeria and the world.

He also said that Danmasanin Kano, believed very strongly … that Nigeria has a special role to play in the affairs of the world … particularly in building self-confidence for people of African origin in the world.
