Investiture ceremony of Prof. Ben Nwabueze

Frontline National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has assured Nigerians that the Buhari Administration would be guided by respect for the rule of law in the conduct of government business.

Dr. Onu spoke in Enugu on June 30, 2015 as Special Guest of Honour at the Investiture Ceremony of former Minister of Education and erudite legal icon, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, with the “Distinguished Academic Leadership Award” by the Convention for Intellectual Cooperation in Nigeria (COFICON).

The former National Chairman of the defunct ANPP, pointed out such an emphasis would foster good governance in order to ensure that “no Nigerian will be above the law and every Nigerian will be below the law”.

He stressed that this will enthrone justice in the polity which is a necessary ingredient for peace, progress and prosperity to thrive in the new Nigeria that is envisioned by the APC led Federal Government.

Dr. Onu dwelled on the importance of stimulating vibrant patriotic commitment of the citizenry in nation-building and assured that conscious efforts rooted in respect for the rule of law would be pursued to secure the confidence of Nigerian in governance and release their happiness as worthy citizens governed in a nation of laws.

He expressed confidence that Nigeria would take her rightful place in the comity of democratic nations of the world by placing emphasis on those worthy attributes that will strengthen the self-worth of the individual and enhance the respect and dignity of Nigeria as Africa’s most populous nation.

Speaking at the occasion, the award recipient, Prof. Nwabueze, extolled the unique leadership attributes of Dr. Onu, describing him as an “incorruptible, first class material” who has remained committed to the nation’s search for enduring democracy.

The event attracted many eminent Nigerians, notable among whom was the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe.
