Eid-el-Kabir celebration, September 22, 2015

On this important occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, I urge all Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the worthy attributes of love of country and faith in our collective ability to build a new, united and prosperous Nigeria.

The task of building a great nation is one that demands the best from all of us. We should bear in mind that though the road may be rough, the climb may be steep and the journey may be tasking, I am confident that with determination, faith in God and a common purpose, we shall succeed.

I implore that as citizens of our dear nation, we should strengthen our resolve to be our brother’s keeper for there is always strength in unity. We should never forget that any achievement through collective effort brings enduring fulfillment to all. I am confident that if we rededicate ourselves to those virtues that bind rather than divide our people, surely the future will most certainly be bright and great.

I am convinced that Nigeria is destined for greatness. I urge that we utilize the opportunity of this solemn occasion to rededicate ourselves to those worthy attributes that will help make this possible.

Finally, I congratulate the Muslim faithful on this important occasion.

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, September 22, 2015.
